ADAC SE makes entry into e-mobility affordable

Getting into e-mobility is often still an expensive undertaking. E-bikes and e-scooters cost several thousand euros. The two-wheeler subscription in the new ADAC e-Ride Shop is suitable for avoiding high prices when buying and worrying about repairs, maintenance and insurance. Rental prices from 49 euros per month and terms between three and twelve months allow ADAC members a cheap and flexible introduction to contemporary mobility.

E-bikes are very popular in times of the corona crisis. Social distancing increases the individualization of local transport. The bicycle trade is blooming again after the curfews and shops are lifted. Already in 2019, e-bikes were able to gain a market share of around 32 percent of all bicycles sold in Germany. This significantly increased the share of 23 percent from 2018.

With the ADAC e-Ride initiative, the ADAC continues its two-wheeler tradition. The Mobility Club was founded in 1903 as the German Motorcyclist Association. Since October 2019, ADAC SE, together with Rydies GmbH, has been promoting emission-free mobility on two wheels with inexpensive e-bikes and e-scooters. In the second phase of the cooperation, two-wheelers are now offered as a subscription with inclusive services such as insurance, repairs and a high-quality security lock for a period of three to twelve months. In addition, there is a purchase option that can be exercised at any time or a connection subscription to switch to another electric two-wheeler model.

Product range

A large number of different e-bikes can be ordered in the new ADAC e-Ride Shop for a subscription of three to twelve months. High-quality city, trekking and mountain bikes from renowned brands such as Corratec and Univega as well as the connected bike from VanMoof are suitable for every application.

E-scooters from the Swedish brand Vässla and the Swiss retro forge Kito are also available as subscriptions. Ideal for trying out in the summer months, they enable emission-free mobility in and around town.

The carefree package includes: Theft insurance, for e-scooters also liability and partial damage insurance, repair of damage through no fault and maintenance at the service partners. Every e-bike is equipped with a high-quality lock from ABUS.

The rental prices start at an affordable 59 euros per month and are clearly divided into three price categories Smart, Classic and Premium. ADAC members benefit in a special way: until June 30, 2020 there is a discount of 10 euros per month on the rental price, ABUS cycling helmets up to 50 euros cheaper, and the starting fee of 98 euros is completely eliminated.

Subscription orders are made online via the website www.adac.e-ride-shop.de . In more than 20 cities across Germany, the bikes are assembled and ready for use by stationary service partners and delivered with personal instruction.
